We cannot delete or remove characters from a string. But deleting the entire string is possible with the keyword del.
>>>del my_string[1 ]
...
TypeError : 'str' object doesn't support item deletion
>>> del my_string
>>> my_string
...
NameError: name ' my_string' is not defined
Python string operations
There are several operations that can be performed in series which makes it one of the most common types of data used in Python.
Concatenation of Two or More Strings
Combining two or more series into one chain is called a chain. An operator does this in Python. Simply writing two letters of the string together stand in control of them.
The operator * can be used to repeat the string a certain number of times.
str1 = 'Hello'
str2 = 'World!'
# using +
print ('str1 + str2 = ' , str1 + str2)
# using *
print ('str1 * 3 =' , str1 * 3 )
Typing two string characters together also connects them like the + operator. If you want to concatenate strings in different lines, you can use parentheses.
>>># two string literals together
